Halo-like shooter Disintegration launches this June

And there’s a new story trailer.

Disintegration’s story is about a future where overpopulation, famine and disease have all but wiped out humanity – forcing humans to swap their organic bodies for robot alternatives. Hard to imagine, I know: but soon we’ll be able to hear more about this potential future for ourselves, as Disintegration launches in full on 16th June. Oh, and there’s also a new story trailer for you to check out.

Developed by V1 Interactive and published by Private Division (with Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto as director), Disintegration is a sci-fi FPS with both a single-player story and multiplayer. It’ll cost £39.99, and is already available for pre-order on Steam and Xbox One (with some bonus cosmetics), and it’s also releasing on PlayStation 4.

There’s also a new trailer which gives us a closer look at Disintegration’s narrative. The story follows Romer Shoal as he attempts to “reboot humanity” and save the human race from the Rayonne, a group that’s been forcing humans to effectively become hive-mind machines. And there’s plenty of Gravcycle action (basically pod racing).

At last year’s E3, I checked out some of Disintegration’s multiplayer gameplay and sat down with Lehto to discuss the game’s narrative themes – so make sure to check the piece out if the dystopian story intrigues you. Or, you know, just watch the news.
