Hitman player discovers Potato Jesus Easter egg two years after it was added to the game

Two years after developer IO Interactive stealth added a Potato Jesus Easter egg to Hitman, a player has finally found it.

“Just noticed this in Sapienza,” wrote u/tanstaafl in a post on r/Hitman.

Included in the post is an image of a picture on a wall that’s quite clearly a take on Potato Jesus.

Potato Jesus, for those of you who don’t know, is the name given to a botched restoration of a century-old Spanish painting of Jesus.

The failed restoration hit the headlines back in 2012, and it quickly became a meme. There’s more in the video below.

Potato Jesus was added to Hitman back in April 2016 as part of the Sapienza level, which is set in a small coastal town in Italy.

Morten Elgaard, a user interface designer at IO, acknowledged the find on Twitter:

Meanwhile, Potato Jesus is now a tourist attraction in Zaragoza.
