Hollow Knight’s physical release is back on, includes fancy Collector’s Edition

If you’ve been patiently holding out for a Hollow Knight physical release, today’s your special day. Team Cherry’s gorgeous bug-themed Metroidvania will shortly receive a fancy Collector’s Edition (and slightly less fancy standard edition) on Switch, PS4, and PC.

For a while, following the collapse of Team Cherry’s partnership with Skybound Games, a Hollow Knight physical release looked uncertain. However, the developer assured fans at the time that it would “investigate other ways to deliver physical versions of Hollow Knight”, and those investigations have finally borne fruit, in conjunction with Fangamer.

Should you choose Fangamer’s standard edition of Hollow Knight, you’ll get the game and all DLC (on cartridge, disc, or DRM-free disc with Steam Key, depending on your platform of choice) in a good old-fashioned box that fits snuggly upon your shelf. That version costs $29 USD on PC and PS4 (around £22) and $34 USD on Switch (around £26).

If you’re feeling flush though, you might prefer the Hollow Knight Collector’s Edition, which weighs in at $64 USD on PC and PS4 (roughly £49) and $69 USD on Switch (about £53). This version is packaged up in a stylish box, sporting gold-foil filigree and a clear printed sleeve, and includes the game and all DLC, a 14-page Quirrel comic book, a golf-foil art print set, plus a metal brooch depicting The Knight with an accompanying stand.

All versions include the game, case, manual, and a fold-out map of Hallownest, and the Switch Collector’s Edition comes with a bonus cleaning cloth. Additionally, those that pre-order the Collector’s Edition get DIY papercraft figures of The Knight, a grub, Quirrel, and Hornet.

Pre-orders are open now and all versions are scheduled to ship on May 31st.
