Deadly Premonition director Hidetaka “Swery” Suehiro has announced an 11th October release date for his new game The Missing.
This is the bizarro platformer in which a lady tries to avoid being mangled in many different ways. But she cannot die, so even mutilated her adventure continues. There’s one clip in the trailer of her head bouncing and rolling along.
The Missing is not to be confused with murder mystery game The Good Life, which Swery spent the earlier part of the year promoting. Swery wrote that game but it’s the studio Grounding making it. The Good Life was successfully Kickstarted – after a very slow start – earlier in the year.
The Missing is an internal production at Swery’s White Owls studio so, in theory, ought to exhibit his quirky nature even more. The game’s set-up is lead character J.J. Macfield looking for a suddenly-disappeared friend on the strange Island of Memories.
“You can’t die on this nightmare island, even if you’re seriously injured. No matter how many times J.J’s brought back from the grips of death, she drags her mangled body deeper into the woods,” the website says.
“She risks the suffering of having her arms and legs torn off, her neck broken, immolation – all in order to find her friend.”

Arc System Works is publishing, and The Missing will be released on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Switch.
