It may be a couple of months away yet but we’re already thinking about the Xbox Black Friday deals we might see on the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and last-gen consoles. It’s always best to be prepared, right?
Nevertheless, it’s going to be a very interesting year for Microsoft during the Black Friday sales. First, it will most likely still be contending with the manufacturing and supply issues that it has faced since the launch of its next-gen consoles. Chances are that’ll mean Xbox Series X stock, in particular, will be tough to track down.
Given that – and the fact that demand for the pair of Xbox Series consoles is still extremely high – it probably isn’t in Microsoft’s best interest to offer much of a discount on either. Especially so on the more powerful of the two as that continues to sell out in a matter of minutes.
While here, we’ll also be speculating on the Xbox games and accessories that might be discounted over Black Friday. You can pretty much guarantee that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will be involved somehow, as the subscription service is Microsoft’s biggest success right now.

Will there be any Xbox Series X Black Friday deals?
Given the scarcity of Xbox Series X stock at the minute and our expectation that demand will still be high by November, it seems unlikely that there will be any massive Xbox Series X deals this Black Friday.
Even though the world is in a better place than it was last year with the coronavirus pandemic many of the supply and distribution issues still remain – some of which (including the manufacturing of certain components) are not directly impacted by COVID-19. With that fervour for next-gen consoles so high, too, Microsoft likely sees no reason to drop the price in the months ahead.
The news isn’t all doom and gloom, though. For those hunting down a new Series X, Microsoft knows that this is one of the busiest shopping periods of the year. You can assume it will be doing its utmost to get as many consoles as possible to retailers for Black Friday.
While we don’t expect to see any big savings, this year’s Black Friday sales will most likely be used as an opportunity to drop a lot of console stock at once. If we’re fortunate, we may see a couple of bundles out there with the odd game or Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions included at a small discount.
Overall, Black Friday could be a great chance to secure an Xbox Series X before Christmas. You might be waiting until next year, though, for a price cut. If you do end up buying one, you might want to consider pairing it with one of the many Black Friday 4K TV deals we expect to see this year to get the most out of your next console.
Xbox Black Friday console deals
Of course, an Xbox Series X Black Friday deal is what we’re all looking for, but what about the Series S or the last-gen consoles?
Let’s start with Series S. Well, it’s already the cheaper version in Microsoft’s new lineup at a much more affordable £250. Because of that, we wouldn’t bet on a price cut over Black Friday – at least not a large one.
How about the Xbox One, then? To answer that, we simply have to look at the fact that Microsoft discontinued the Xbox One X and All-Digital Edition last year. By now, any remaining brand new stock of those two consoles has been and gone.
Now, the Xbox One S may still be knocking around but considering it was retailing for about the same price as the Series S is now, you’ll be better off going for the more modern console. Unless the One S is down to about £100 there’s really no reason to touch it. At that price, though, it would serve as a decent entry point if you missed out on last-gen or have a youngster looking to dabble in gaming for the first time for little investment.
Xbox Black Friday game deals
Although things seem quiet on the release front, Microsoft has actually announced that around 30 games are coming exclusively to Xbox in 2021. Some have already arrived, such as the horror adventure The Medium, but there are many others on the way too. This includes Halo Infinite, which is due for release on 8th December.
Will Microsoft offer up some big reductions on these games by the time Black Friday rolls around? We’re not so sure. Many of these first-party releases will be available on the day of release to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, so there doesn’t seem to be a massive reason to discount them. Instead, Microsoft would likely encourage wannabe players to sign up to Game Pass Ultimate to try these games for less – and hope to gain a new member in the process! Speaking of that…
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate deals
Over the past couple of years, Microsoft has put a rather good offer live for new Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers over Black Friday. With it, first-time members can get 3 months of Game Pass Ultimate for just £1/$1. Definitely a great way to try out the already excellent value service if you haven’t yet.
For existing customers, what can you expect? Well, there’s a 50 per cent off discount that’s cropped up in the past. We haven’t seen that for some time now, but Microsoft could bring it back for the Xbox Black Friday deals bonanza. Part of us thinks they might be winding down that offering now, considering the massive jump in subscriber numbers over the last year and the increasing value of membership.
Xbox Black Friday accessory deals
Controllers were one of the most popular Xbox Black Friday deals from 2020 and we expect a repeat of those offers this year. Look for a small discount on the full range of Xbox Wireless Controllers – perhaps including the Shock Blue and newer Pulse Red and Aqua Shift variations.
Another item many will be hoping to see discounted is the Storage Expansion Card for Xbox Series X/S. This very expensive doohickey is the only way to increase your storage space on the Xbox Series X/S for next-gen game installs. Currently, all external hard drive (whether they’re mechanical or SSDs) can only be used to store next-gen games or run older Xbox One titles. It’s currently an eye-watering £220 so a few quid off this would not go amiss.
